Last week I attended the Her Conference in NYC, an event that was ran by Her Campus Media. For those of you who have not heard of Her Campus, it is an online magazine written for college girls and by college girls. This amazing club has allowed me to hone in on my writing skills and truly realize my love for writing, furthermore leading to me completely changing my major and minor choices.
I have held editorial positions and have been writing for Her Campus since my freshman year, and love the organization for all that it stands for.
Her Conference was an event with many speakers – all strong, empowered and successful women whom I look up to. And being surrounded by many other young writers with similar aspirations to me was such an incredible thing.
When life gives you a wall covered in roses you take photos in front of it, am I right?
The event dress code was “collegiette chic” so I wore an outfit I would typically wear to work – something polished but still cute and colorful. I wore this white dolman style top from Loft, a red skirt from Nordstrom with crochet detailing and lastly my trusty black sandals.
Vanessa K. DeLuca, the Editor in Chief from Essence magazine, was one of the panelists who spoke. Having someone speak to us who had accomplished so much in her life allowed me to realize inspired me to work hard at work I love, writing, and to push myself out of my comfort zone, which is something I often struggle with.
Ulta was offering free makeovers to guests, so, of course, I took advantage of the opportunity to get all ~glammed up~.
The event was right on the water, so of course, I had to take a few more photos to showcase my #ootd. The view was absolutely beautiful – it was right near Wall Street, The Brooklyn Bridge and the Wall Street Pier, so I saw plenty of boats (and tourists) pass by.
I hope to post more consistently on here is the coming months as I have added a few pieces to my wardrobe recently that I cannot wait to show off. 🙂 I have also launched an Instagram account recently so feel free to check it out.
